Signing at New York Comic Con

I’ll be signing books for giveaways at the Random House booth at New York ComicCon on Friday, from 1 pm to 2 pm.    They’ll be giving away some of my books (don’t know which.)   If you have books you want signed but can’t be there at that time,  I will also be around (but not at that location, though maybe near it–not sure of layout) for another hour or two (depends what I learn about the time to travel between Javits Center and my hotel, as I have an opera that night (!) .  I also plan to be at NYCC again on Sunday afternoon, especially to attend the panel discussion featuring Betsy Mitchell, Shelly Shapiro, and Colleen Lindsay at 4 pm.   I expect to be near that panel venue at least a half hour early.  If you find me wandering around and need a book signed, I’ll be happy to do so.

I do not have a smart-phone, so no tweeting where I am (sorry…still using the clamshell oldie…it works)  but if I get the new power adapter for my netbook in time, I”ll be posting more info once I’m in NYC.   I’m looking forward to exploring the convention myself, since I have the free time to do so.

Have fun! One of these days I’ll get to experience the adventure that is a Comic Convention.

Hmmm….would have sworn I answered Annabel’s comment, but apparently it vanished (or I did it in email instead, which was silly…) Anyhow, I HOPE I can make it to the London WorldCon in 2014 and stay long enough to travel around a bit as well. That will depend on both money and family health stuff.

Adam: I certainly hope to have fun. I went to GenCon once (publisher paid, that time) and even one day was a blast. I also enjoy DragonCon and WorldCon, as you know, even though much of both isn’t “relevant”–but great people-watching.

    GinnyW: Me, too.

Meanwhile, trip prep is producing the usual hitches. The power adapter for my netbook has vanished somewhere into this not-tidy house. I had it in Chicago and on the train home. I distinctly remember unplugging it and stowing it away before I got off the train, and have a vague memory of yanking all the adapters (netbook and cellphone) tangled together (hasty stowage) out of the zipped pocket on the backpack so I could charge up my cellphone at home. But where, o where, is the netbook one? I’ve ordered another, which “should” be here in time for this trip. I hope. Very much. A local (only 50 miles away) store sells a “universal adapter” that’s supposed to work with this netbook but they say they’ve had trouble with Dell machines–and I didn’t take the netbook with me yesterday to go clothes shopping.

Meanwhile, the dash to the city to buy a new pair of jeans and a new pair of black slacks (one for train, one for city)happened yesterday. Both need hemming. I hate hemming. I also hate tripping on the too-long legs. (If I could change things, women’s slacks would also come in graduated lengths, like men’s already do. We have at most three choices (petite, average, and tall) and often only two (petite, average.) Since women’s leg lengths vary as much as men’s, including within a given height range, this is…annoying.

I could go on at length about what’s wrong with the design and cut of women’s clothing, but I won’t. Be glad. You know what “at length” means when I get hold of it. My mother tried to teach me to a) sew and b) like it. I can sorta sew, and I don’t like it.

I did get a flu shot yesterday and the pants fit, mostly.

Second load’s in the washing machine. I need to do my morning bike ride, then check that all the necessary papers (train tickets, hotel confirmation, opera tickets confirmation, names & phone numbers of people in NYC, etc) are all in the backpack in the right pocket so I don’t panic about it. Need to be sure that I’ve left essential information available for family at home. Need to…etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

    Later…..
