Quick report (still off topic)

Today I had no internet connection until just a bit ago…but did accomplish quite a lot of knitting while at the hospital.    The patient is not feeling patient, and is quite uncomfortable, but when the pain meds gave relief, he napped awhile, sleeping deeply enough to snore a little.  I was not moved to complain about it…  The doctor had not been there when I got there, and didn’t get there before I left some hours later, so we don’t know any more details than we did.

The horses regard me with annoyance because I can’t make it cool or make it rain.  Just bringing them feed and checking their water and picking up their mess and hauling it to the manure pile  is not enough.

Anyway, if there’s a long stretch of no posts, blame it on the internet connection going out again.   Friends lost theirs for most of the day yesterday.

    elizabeth,

In the 1990s I was working with an old-style mainframe computer that would go on strike whenever the room temperature exceeded what was in its contract. I remember that one hot (by UK standards) summer’s day, the Ops Manager went round the office “borrowing” everyone’s desktop fans to bolster the computer-room air-conditioning. If modern internet servers are less sensitive then I dare say that only means they are given correspondingly less protection against wilting in really exceptional heat.

Keep posting when it helps you, and only when it helps you (because you enjoy it). If it becomes a burden, stop. No apologies needed.

It looks like the happiest outcome was time for knitting!!!
It is the one thing I like about accompanying people for appointment. My knitting bag always goes with me. Sorry about the heat. It is raining here at the moment and it was supposed to be a picnic day. Oh well time for more knitting:)

Yes, I’m trying not to post about the weather here in the Pacific Northwest. We have people complaining about how cool and cloudy (and yes, even with rain every few days, unusual for summer even here), but I look at the rest of the country and am content. I hope you all get some of this cool rainy weather, and wish I could magically send it to you.

I recall that during hot parts of the day horses sometimes enjoy standing under sprinjkles, it takes the heat off them. Just aim a water nozzle up and let the spray land on the horse.
Good to hear the family is well.

RW: We are in an exceptional drought and under water-use restrictions. I wish I could manage to give them that kind of relief, but it’s not
    possible.

I haven’t commented in forever, but I have been reading. My thoughts and prayers have been with you.

AND, have you seen the 5 day forecast for Tropical Storm Dan? It’s predicted to be over Texas this weekend. Hurricanes are good drought breakers.

I warned you about not keeping enough 1s and 0s in your computer.
