Book IV called me back today with a vengeance, and I’ve done the first substantial work since finishing the Great Race.  Over 1500 words.    A plot-bomb of sorts that’s been burning a hole in my typing fingers since the fever went down.   However, it’s a major, MAJOR spoiler so I can’t talk about it.

I have the distinct feeling that I’m going to be back “on book” from here on out.    The gap in regular work–except when really sick–has not been entirely unproductive, because I’ve been thinking, making notes, thinking more, making more notes, etc.

Linkages are forming…as they tend to once past the middle section of a long story arc.   Things that were still a total frustrating puzzle to me while writing Oath and Kings are finally, in IV, rising up to the surface enough that I can sortakinda know what’s going on.    Still very rough, still things that may be wrong…but not everything’s wrong.

The wheels are turning, and if I don’t want to be left behind it’s time to get aboard for the rest of the ride.

    So, how was your performance?

So far as writing – enjoy it.

Performance is next weekend. Now spending 2-3 hours/day on the music. After that, writing 2K words/day will be piece of cake, but the book is kicking hard for me to get back to it NOW. This is going to be a rough week.

Just finished Kings — oh, of course now I want the next and the next.

Thanks, Tina. I’m struggling tonight with the proposal letter for the contract for the next two volumes (IV and V.) Plotting this far ahead of where I’m writing is like pulling a large oak tree out by the roots. It’s hard enough for me to describe the books when they’re written…doing so when they’re still in the story-cauldron is downright painful. But I’m almost done, I think, so I’d best get back to it. (1 am already??? OUCH!)

And once more writing-business-work that I’ve been on since 7:30 this morning looks to fill the day except for brief forays to check stuff online because I can’t stand it another minute. (Not writing-work as in writing the book. Writing-business-work as in clerical/accounting/scheduling, etc.)

Three chores down. Um…not done yet. SO not done yet. (And yes, sneaking out of workspace to look at Twitter and then clicking through to some articles before smacking self on nose and re-attached leash to mind is certainly one reason for “not done yet.”) But maybe I can have lunch now?

Tractor still nonfunctional, and repair place has to acquire the right parts to bring out here to fix it. Kitchen floor could use a scrub (understatement) and I need to change the tablecloth, change sheets, do laundry, and folding previous laundry would be a good idea, too. Bathrooms…the utility room desperately needs sweeping out…Um…dusting (!) and polishing doorknobs (none of our doorknobs are polishable, actually, but when the mind wants distractions, even polishing unpolishable doorknobs seems like a bright! shiny! idea.

    I flit! I flee!

Am sailing my way through Kings — I can’t believe how good it is. Will finish this afternoon, and no doubt begin at the beginning again.

Performance went extremely well. We had the audience from the first, and held them throughout. Then came sleep, catch-up sleep, and more sleep (interrupted by singing a service on Sunday.) Woke this morning without gritty eyes for the first time in 5 days.

Then did 2000+ words on Kings and am now about to photograph the first water lily of the season.

I’m so happy the book is so forcefully making itself known 🙂 I’m always in awe of epic fantasy writers. Keeping straight all those prophecies, characters, and story arcs….!! It is most impressive. I remember re-reading book 3 of WOT and seeing a reference to a prophecy that doesn’t get fulfilled until book 11!

Plus, I’d just like to say that I did a little happy dance when you announced the series would stretch to 5 books. yay!!!

FOUR?!? Oath/Kings’ story is gonna be FOUR books? I have to wait two more books to see how all of this ENDS?!?!?!?!

(wow, I haven’t hit THAT note in a long while.)

Bernardette: glad you’re happy about the book and the series length.

Chris: It’s not a secret…I let that cat out of the bag awhile ago. And it’s…um…five books altogether, not four.
