And the Speed Bumps…

As I warned y’all, the arrival of comments from Agent or Editor (or both) would result in a diversion of time from Book IV back to Crisis of Vision.    Yesterday I got my agent’s comments on Crisis (there’s a chapter he thinks is weaker than the rest, but Editor isn’t there yet) and a heads-up that Editor was about halfway through and had found things she wanted to excise.   So although I’m not starting on any fixes until I have all the comments in, some attention has shifted to that book and not this book.  Thus downgrading (as the investment industry puts it) the projected output this week.

Speed-bump #2 is the report I’m having to produce.  It’s going very slowly because I would much rather write the book, thanks.    But it must be done, so I’m forcing myself not to work on the book until it is done.   Grumping from me and the book both.   Book and I spent yesterday evading the report and 2000 more words of book emerged, but only about two paragraphs of report.  Today has reversed that ratio.  Grump.

Terie Garrison and I will be involved in a “race” starting February 1, along with several other writers.   The idea is that each person sets a personal goal for the month, and then we “race” toward that goal…the winner gets to his/her own goal first.   Terie and I did this last summer and it helped both of us; we now have other runners in the race, and Terie found a delightful counter-graphic for us.   Some of us (at least) are taking racehorse names. Terie, who’s doing the heavy lifting, chose Secretariat; I’m Desert Orchid (the famous steeplechaser, for those who don’t know. )

You’re all welcome to come to the grandstand and cheer…find out all the details at Terie’s LiveJournal.
