Week One

Book IV continued to go forward at a good pace.  The book is now over 20,000 words (and I’ll probably tinker with it later tonight and nudge it over 21,000, just to watch the turnover, but we’ll see.)

The week’s total wordage was 11,638 words in five days, very unevenly distributed but all days over 2000.   The first two chapters are in Kieri’s POV.  The third is in Dorrin’s.   There are Arcolin chunks left over from Crisis of Vision, but I plan to write directly toward them, not jump around unless something goes flump.    “Going flump” is a highly technical term.   When everything’s moving along nicely in a book and suddenly it isn’t…that’s “going flump.”   Hopping over the barricade at the end of that road to another section sometimes allows you to see why the flump happened and what to do about it.

The weekend will be spent on other stuff (including singing two services Sunday because it looks like only two of the altos will be there.  And I’m one of the two.)    And now it’s time to go put the potatoes on to go with the lamb shoulder that’s in the oven for supper.

Oh, yes, I know about those techical terms. In Buddhism we say that certain words are technical Sanskrit terms — things like “schmoozing” (oh, wait, maybe that’s a technical Yiddish term, no matter). Things do definitely “go flump” at various times. Hope that doesn’t happen too much in Book IV. And I agree that Crisis is a terrific title.

    Glad you like the title.

I’m very VERY pleased that Book IV is moving along in a healthy way. This coming week I have jury duty, so I don’t know if I’ll make Thursday’s goal–that will depend–but I’ll certainly try. Definitely will push for it on the other days. (We’re expected to have cold rain all week, which we need, and that will help with any temptation to go wandering outside.)
