Busy, Busy

Yesterday, Tuesday,  I finished the short-short (currently titled “Point of Honor” and I don’t know when it will appear), the intro for the short-short, and about half the essay, which I then looked at with utter loathing.  It may’ve been the headache.   New glasses last night make for better seeing, though not yet (thanks to many other things on the to-do list) to a lot more done on the book.  Less squinting, though.

A Little Surprise

This morning, Editor asked me to please write some posts for the Suvudu.com blogsite.    Sure, I said, and began fiddling, but was interrupted by a needed trip to an optician’s shop to order new glasses.  This afternoon, Editor asked me if I had any short fiction related to the new book.    Maybe something had been cut?  Maybe I could write a short-short?   Huh?  And I thought “O waily waily woe, I’m trying to write an essay (that wasn’t working well yet) and anyway I’m not good at short-shorts.”  (Yes, even experienced writers have self-defeating moments.)

And even as I thought that…up popped a notion of what might work.  Bing! Read the rest of this entry »

I haven’t talked about actually writing book three lately, what with so much else going on–sometimes answering comments used up my available time.  But work is progressing, just slowly.  I hope to speed up.  Read the rest of this entry »

Book Two Title

We have achieved Title for the second book:  Kings of the North was a clear winner with Editor and Marketing, I heard Friday.   Now to  put the correct title on the header line of all the chapters now titled “Kieri II”.  I’m not at all sure that KOTN has the same appeal as LOTR.

Off-line

Elizabeth lost Internet access this morning. We don’t know why or what happened, but my guess is the problem is at her ISP or further up the line. No idea when it’ll get fixed, could be in 5 minutes, could be much later.

I hope that because I am posting this, the fates will restore her access immediately.

A Writer’s Vision

I was very overdue for a visit to the eye doctor–Stuff keeps coming up–but since my husband needed to see one with some urgency, we made matching appointments and I had the full “do” today.  As I suspected, I’m getting cataracts, but they’re in the early stages.  Everything else is healthy.   I need new glasses (which I was pretty sure of, too.

Sheepfarmer’s Daughter download free

Now in the Free Library at Suvudu.comSheepfarmer’s Daughter, the first of the Paks books…accessible through this Del Rey site as well as through the Baen site.   I think I mentioned it here before, but this is due to the gracious cooperation of both Baen Books and Del Rey Books.  If  you have friends you’ve been trying to convince to try out this story world, here’s an easy way for them to jump in the pond.  (But…nobody has to read the whole Deed of Paksenarrion before diving into the new book.)

Six weeks to go…yes, I’m getting twitchy.    I wish it would come out in time for ConDFW in February, but we’ll just have to suffer a few weeks more.
