Book Day +1

First, thanks to all of you who’ve now charged into the book and are giving me some feedback in Spoiler Space.   I’m so glad it’s working for you!!   And to all those who use Spoiler Space to avoid spoilering the book for those whose copies haven’t arrived or who haven’t been able to read it yet because of Real Life.

I meant to post yesterday but had my own LifeStuff to deal with.  Don’t we all!   My neck spasmed on me again and I was pretty well laid up in the afternoon and evening.   Grump.  Eventually, after the Mozart performance, I should be able to free up enough time to see a doctor about it.  It’s been doing this for months now.

Anyway, I’ve also been busy working on the blogposts and things I was supposed to be doing while I was in crunch mode finishing Crown of Renewal.   I still am working on those, but one has appeared.

At Orbit:   http://www.orbitbooks.net/2013/06/11/elizabeth-moon-fantasy-crossbows/

Others should be up in the next few days; I’ll post the URLs at that time.   I’m working on one of them right now.

I was just able to finish the book today and wow is all I have to say. No spoilers of course but thank you for such a great story. I am eagerly awaiting the next one. Now time to read the article!

A bit off topic (but still deep into the wonderful Limits of Power) I wanted to ask you Elizabeth if you had reacted to this which I read in the Guardian… http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2013/jun/12/science-fiction-sexism-sfwa

    Naomi,
Very challenging, and disappointing post. Disappointing in the sense that it is a reflection of social hostility that seems to be surfacing in many different and pervasive contexts in recent years. (Like the magery suddenly popping up all over Fintha and Tsaia, but uglier.)

Now I’m off to Spoiler Space myself.

Naomi: I have reacted to it only in some writer-related groups and sites where it was being discussed, and only briefly, as I’ve been killer-busy since it came out. I may have time today to do a full blog post about it on LiveJournal, but I still have a pile of things to get through first.

    Book finally came

Due to the above circumstances the Verrakai Children will be shipped off…er…enjoy some time at Lake Lenfantmechant summer camp. I am sure they will have a great time.

Jenn, you mustn’t do that, they’ve been called onstage. (I think I can be forgiven for saying that out of Spoiler Space.)

    Hello Elizabeth,

Thank you for another great tale, finished it far too soon unfortunately and sat there staring at my screen thinking “what do I do now?”

Great book as always and I’m eagerly awaiting the next.

    Richard,

You are in luck. The bus scheduled to take them off suffered a huge break down. (That is the last time I ever buy discount form Haiti.) So they are free to go on stage.

    GinnyW

    Thanks!

Read the article on crossbows, and at the bottom were posted cover art for the three previous books, none of which are the covers on my books, and all of which I like very much. Are these the UK covers? Or ???

Those are the UK covers–Orbit is my UK publisher and that blogpost was on the Orbit UK site.

Love this latest installment of the characters’ stories, Elizabeth. A very absorbing read. Thank you.

I just finished your book this morning. I’m glad that I had time to savor it. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with each of your characters.

Reallly enjoyed the book… am now attempting the audiobook. So far, must say that’s the worst reader of an audiobook I’ve run into yet… too bad they couldn’t have had the same reader for all the books (not this lady tho) She is putting the wrong EmPHAsis on the wrong syLLABles…

On my second run through Limits of Power – just wanted to say I’m so enjoying the new books (can’t count how many times I’ve read Paksennarion!). Now I’ll be counting down the days to the next…
