BookPeople Event Tonight

For those in easy distance of 6th and Lamar, in Austin, TX, I’ll be doing a reading from Echoes of Betrayal, chat, and signing at BookPeople tonight at 7 pm.    Knitters–bring your  yarn & needles along–it’s fine with me, and I’ll be bringing my socks-in-progress (though not knitting while reading or talking…not able to handle that yet.)  I’ll feel less silly about that if someone else has their needlework project along.

But come if you can–would love to see you.

    Elizabeth,

Welcome to the ranks of the yarn-a-holics! People who can’t walk past a yarn shop with out stopping and buying, who find knitting needles the acceptable accessory for any occaision. (well maybe not church…)

I am almost finished my leaf shawl and have found a crab toy pattern. I hope they don’t become as demanding as the dragons. My dream is to eventually do some of Alan Dart’s toys.

Jenn: Loved the cartoon. As for yarn…I don’t have more than…um…a few boxes and sacks of yarn that I bought myself (as opposed to inherited yarn, which I’m NOT COUNTING. Not my stash.)

    Elizabeth,

Don’t worry. The motto of the yarn-a-holic is you can never have too much stash.

You maybe slightly overboard when you husband is forced to move in with the horses as there is no more room for him in the house.

I have inherited a tiny amount of white angora! OOOH! I am thinking a band on a newborn hat and maybe ear flaps if there is enough.

I don’t have much yarn (have occasionally done some crocheting), but don’t get me started on fabric for sewing projects. It’s out of control.

I have always wanted to sew. I have a friend who can look at clothes and sew up a pattern. But sewing machines and I have a long history of animosity. After the last one tried to blind me (the needle broke and hit my glasses), I decided that was it. I can do a decent hand sewing but that is mostly for mending.
