Launch Day!!

Am I still excited on Launch Days?   You bet!   Excited and worried all at once.    I always worry.    Part of the game.

Here, the sun is shining, high clouds diluting its warmth, and spring is springing out of the ground thanks to the rain Friday night and Saturday.     I hope those of you who ordered the e-book are finding it on your readers this morning, and those of you who have it in transit by mail or waiting for you at the store have good weather for the pickup or delivery.   And time to read.

I’ve got stuff stacked up to do today (including stay by the phone so the people from the hotel can reach me…idiot writer left her traveling music in the hotel room)  and I will get to comments (answering them, that is) as other things allow.

“Echoes” came in the mail the same day as “Scarlet,” the second of three in Stephen Lawhead’s “King Raven” trilogy I’m in the middle of reading (which is amazing, by the way). Sorry Lawhead, but I think I’m going to have to set aside King Raven so I can devour the next installment in my all time favorite series! Keep up the good work, Elizabeth. =)

I am afraid I called you a bad name at the end of Chapter 24, but it was late and I really could not afford to stay up long enough to read anymore. I forgave you, and apologized, when I picked up again on Wednesday.

Loved the book. I adore the personality who has claimed Arvid.

Mine arrives yesterday (yes, it was pre-ordered) — their shipped notice said it would arrive today, so I can’t complain too much, I suppose. However, I haven’t been able to start it (other than the 50 pages already read), because I don’t dare stay up too late just yet. Maybe tomorrow evening, and definitely Sunday afternoon. Monday’s my day off, so I will finish by then, and maybe start over again, who knows. I ALMOST ordered it on my Kindle as well, but the reality is that I wouldn’t have had time to read it beginning Tuesday anyway, so I resisted. At some point I will likely order all of the Paladin’s Legacy books on the Kindle, as I have all of the others, but at the moment, I’m settling for hardcover.

Looking forward to reading the rest of it.

@elizabeth: Thanks, I knew I’d get some sympathy here! The kindle is in hand, and I spent half the night with Echoes. Which was time that I really needed to be sleeping, but a girl has to have priorities. It was hard enough not to stay up the whole night!

Turns out Amazon sent the thing to my in-law’s address, since it was a gift, and that’s where the original was shipped. Does it not make any sense to send it to the account that is actualy linked to the kindle when it breaks? *sigh*

    @10 & @12 —

The other thing to know about Harriet Klausner is that she donates heavily to our local library book sale, enabling my friends & me to try out lots of new authors before buying their books when they come out. The Friends of the Library has been able to put new terminals in every branch in the county and buy other supplies, freeing up library budgets for actual books.

“Never set the cat on fire, but always buy the new books!”

    Happy Launch Day!

FYI — my preordered book from Amazon did arrive on Friday the 24th. I stayed up late to inhale it and will be rereading it many times again. As usual it was that good. Thanks

went into galaxy (one of the major bookshops in Australia), and it wasnt there. I did end up buying your vattas series, so it wasnt a total waste – and I did have to ask why i couldnt see ‘moving target’, but there was ‘marque and reprisal’

but like kathie G (post 7), i wait and buy my books PB (I dont have the room, and I find PB easier to carry around and read)

    Can’t wait for number 4 and 5….

Won’t say more here due to the risk of spoilers.

Postman here a few minutes ago – book has [finally] arrived, so I will be off-line until it is finished. If this one is anywhere near as riveting as the last, that will be about 3am.

I enjoyed echoes of betrayal very much. my copy from amazon came a day early. thanks, amazon. Have I missed some short stories somewhere? the healing of the squire with a twig for a thumb, death of sgt vossik, etc? missed paks, though.

h liu: Questions about contents should go into SpoilerSpace thread to avoid spoilers for those who still haven’t read it. Please observe spoiler spaces for those who don’t like spoilers. However, since you’ve already spilled some beans, here’s where to find the answers in Echoes: Daryan’s healing, Chapter Six. Vossik’s death, Chapter Seven. Unless there are pages missing in your copy. Please do check, and if you have a copy with missing pages, report it to your bookseller or the publisher. If to bookseller, they should return the copy but not as ordinary return, but as “damaged goods.”
