One Day: No Spoilers

Actually, depending on where you are in the world, it may already be well into tomorrow.   But though it’s a few minutes to midnight here, I’m opening with the reminder that we don’t want spoilers here for a reasonable time after those waiting impatiently have a chance at the book.    We’ll have better discussions (and fewer chances of some “justifiable homicides” ) if you hold off on spoilerish discussions until everyone’s read it.  (However, it’s not spoilerish to tell me you liked it (or hated it, though of course I’d rather not hear that.)

For a similar reason, I’m not posting the first pictures of Kings out in the world immediately (though I appreciate them) until more people have it, on the grounds that I don’t want impatient and envious fans to take vengeance on those who have it already.  Not that any of you kind, gentle, patient, people would ever do such a thing, but…better safe than sorry.

Now I realize that some of you are probably in dire need of another post to give you clues, and I hope to get that done tomorrow.  However, that depends on the tractor repair place.  If the tractor comes back in working order tomorrow, I simply must mow the near meadow and a wide fire-break strip around our neighbor’s yard.  They said “Monday or Tuesday.”

Mine is in the mail. Maybe I’ll reread Oath of Fealty tomorrow to get ready.

Not yet shipped from Amazon but delivery estimate is for the 22nd!

Took a vacation day from work just so I can sit down and enjoy it!

Thank you for all of the Legends. I have not kept up on this site for the past week so had a nice chunk of stories to read and it made me very happy.

Thank you for the non-spoiler posts, much appreciated. And mea culpa for not saying it before, but thank you for the Legends, also. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying them, and I think we’re spoiled rotten (in the non-spoilerish sense)!

Good luck with the tractor. Fire safety has to come first – especially when you have dragons to consider. 😉

(No worries here: SoCal is getting so much rain atm even a dragon would be drenched. Blech. Hopefully some of it floats on over to TX in the next few days.)

    It’s arrived !

The Orbit pb of Kings of the North arrived today, Monday.

Amazon.co.uk sent me a “earlier” notice on the 18th and changed to “in Stock”.

    Email “dispatched” on Saturday.

    Very nice cover.

Think thebookdeposotory.co.uk shipped it today. Hope so anyway.

Eagerly anticipating tomorrow. Going tomorrow afternoon after I get off work to pick up my pre-ordered copy.

And I also must echo the thanks for the Legend’s series you put up.

You’re very welcome, Adam. I wasn’t sure when I started posting them that people would like them.

Moira: So glad you’re enjoying the Legends posts. I like readers to feel spoiled… ;-). On the rain situation–we’ve been told there’s no chance at all before next Sunday and then only a 20% chance of “showers”…no general widespread rain. Warmer and dryer than usual through June. We’ll be in stage 4 water restriction again before we know it.

Oh, I hope it gets there on the day you took off! It would be so frustrating if it didn’t.

Your re-reading Oath of Fealty sure wouldn’t hurt MY feelings.

    I’m counting the hours!

I preordered the B&N NOOKbook version (it FINALLY came available on their site) so I’ll be staying up until the wee hours to get started on the book. Thanks to your earlier post, I can skip right ahead to chapter two!

It should download automatically, I’m hoping for 11PM Central time (assuming a midnight Eastern release). Not sure on that one though, there hasn’t been anything else exciting enough to make me stay up late enough to see when it arrives! 🙂

    Hello
Amazon shipped my copy a today, so I be looking forward to it.
I am curious if you are going to do any book signings anywhere near the Austin area.
    Thank you
    Mike

Michael: Unlike previous years, Publisher did not arrange a signing–not sure why, and by the time I realized they hadn’t, it was too late for me to get one this month. I will see if any store’s interested for next month.

    Thank you
I would love to meet you again and my wife would love to meet you as well. I’ve been enjoying the background material you have been providing immensely. Thank you very much for it.

Will you post information on signings here when they are scheduled?

I’d love for you to sign my much beloved, much battered copy of Deed if you’re ever in Dallas.

Just received an E-Mail from Amazon – my audio edition of Kings of the North has been shipped and is on the way.

It is snowing up here in NH for a change.

Heard from a friend in Connecticut that it’s snowing there, too. Would be happy to share our warm, overly dry, overly windy weather with anyone who’d trade some rain for it.

Minneapolis would be nice for a book signing. But that’s too far for your schedule. Got to give you time to keep writing. 😉 I need (make the NEED) to get away for a few days and just happened to take them Wed, Thurs, and Friday at a nice quiet retreat center. Lots of time for all sorts of reading. Going to pick up my preordered copy on the way out of town!

PocketGoddess: Yes, I’ll post information on any signings scheduled. I will be in Dallas in June for A-kon. We’ll find a way.

Mike: if I can set up a signing anywhere in the Austin area, I’ll post it here and on the websites.

Really???? A-Kon is downtown, so I can get there on the train–no car required!

I’ll go ahead and register if you’re sure you’re coming, and we’ll figure out how to meet.

I didn’t think anything could make me happier than the imminent release of Kings, but you just made my day!

    🙂

Yup, really. I’ll be celebrating the release of a book my friend Lee Martindale edited, Ladies of Trade Town (cover by another friend, Melanie Fletcher. They’re both also SFWA Musketeers, which means don’t come too close when they have swords in hand, but it’s not a Musketeer event (well…no one’s told me yet if it is) so you’re safe.

It seems to be an Anime convention, which isn’t exactly my thing, but I’ll study up a bit beforehand. There’s a lot of info on their site already, and I’m sure the art gallery/dealer room will be fun. I’ve always been fascinated with Japanese culture (I hope to go there someday), but I just have too many interests right now to keep up with everything.

PS Since cosplay is such a big part of A-Kon, they also have a strict weapons policy. I think we’ll all be safe. 😉

It’s a new convention for me, so I’ll just float along and enjoy the scenery, when not busy with the launch stuff and other programming.

I have Lee Martindale’s “Ladies Of Trade Town” cd, but didn’t know there was an anthology. Thanks!

Thanks for the legends & snippets, too; they’re excellent!

Once your tractor’s fixed, will you be singing “Mow The Grass Down” to the tune of “Blow The Man Down?”
