The power outage shifted part of my work day from writing to drawing–though with the clouds we had, it was not easy to find light enough to draw unti the power came back on.\u00a0 However, the power outage hit (with the loud BANG! of a blown transformer fuse and a fried dove)\u00a0 just at a critical point psychologically, when the gnome prince is interrogating his guests and important information is passed unwittingly.<\/p>\n
I didn’t get back to the prince and that scene right away, because when I turned the computer back on,\u00a0 I had editorial email that required immediate attention.\u00a0 Not until several hours later was I back in the big vaulted chamber, and by then it was hard to get back into the POV character (the Count of Andressat, in case you’re curious.\u00a0 And if you wonder what he’s doing so far from home, he feels the same way. )\u00a0\u00a0 As a result, the 1100+ words today are fairly pedestrian and are going to require a lot of work…but I think I’ve got the skeleton of their conversation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, before choir practice I met the friend who’s working on a pencil sketch of a character for me.\u00a0\u00a0 She’s never tried anything exactly like this, though she’s a talented artist, and we’re not sure her talent is right for this particular task, but she wanted to try it.<\/p>\n
When I got home from choir, I still had well under a thousand words for today, so went to work.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And as it’s rapidly approaching midnight, I’m quitting on the book for the night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
