{"id":2063,"date":"2014-01-09T18:18:19","date_gmt":"2014-01-10T00:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paksworld.com\/blog\/?p=2063"},"modified":"2014-01-09T18:18:59","modified_gmt":"2014-01-10T00:18:59","slug":"bustling-through","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paksworld.com\/blog\/?p=2063","title":{"rendered":"Bustling Through"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>January is the month in which I have to turn in the annual report on our wildlife management program.\u00a0\u00a0 Some years I get it almost done in December.\u00a0 This year I didn&#8217;t,\u00a0 so I&#8217;m working on it now.\u00a0 Also on another official report.\u00a0\u00a0 Husband does the last quarterly tax stuff, but I&#8217;m supposed to gather paperwork (whimper) and hand it to him.\u00a0 Hence, bustling through.<!--more-->But with a bit of good news.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen the first version of Richard Hescox&#8217;s next character sketch and with only a few small tweaks it should be realsoonnow and up as soon as that happens.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He&#8217;s nailed exactly the character traits. \u00a0 I wanted to show in this person.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Oh&#8230;you&#8217;re wondering who it is?\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;m afraid you&#8217;ll have to wait a little longer. )<\/p>\n<p>Another bit of good news:\u00a0 The Paksworld side-stories are continuing to work through my head.\u00a0\u00a0 I may consider putting out an e-book chapbook this year with some of them.\u00a0\u00a0 Three\u00a0 complete ones (beyond the two sold to anthologies)\u00a0 have not been seen by anyone but me and a couple of nearby alpha readers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 One of those I wrote as a side story while working on <em>Kings of the North<\/em>,\u00a0 even considering it as a viewpoint section for a time.\u00a0\u00a0 It has a fossil.\u00a0 Or maybe&#8230;maybe someone lied in the books and this is what really happened?\u00a0\u00a0 Hmmm.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don&#8217;t know whether to leave it as is, or make it fit with the books as published.\u00a0\u00a0 Another two are in work.<\/p>\n<p>In the non-writing side of my life,\u00a0 I&#8217;m not going to WorldCon in London as originally planned, due to Lifestuff on the home front.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be sitting out much of the convention year,\u00a0 trying to get things sorted, cleaned up, organized, tacked down, ready for any storms that show up.\u00a0\u00a0 The season of life storms is approaching.<\/p>\n<p>I have started knitting a sock in the Herdwick yarn and love the way it softens my fingertips (the marled yarn, on the righthand side of the picture shown before.)\u00a0\u00a0 It does shed its &#8220;hairy&#8221;
