My computer monitor died this afternoon, but thanks to Rancherfriend and his habit of not throwing things away, I have a replacement.\u00a0 YAY!\u00a0 (I call both my friends at this ranch “Rancherfriend” online.\u00a0\u00a0 A remarkable couple we’ve known for decades,\u00a0 having met at a small church right after they’d bought the ranch and before there was a livable building on it.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They invited us out to celebrate, as they’d just had power restored to one light pole.\u00a0\u00a0 Plugged a crockpot into the socket on the pole (meant for power tools) and we all ate sitting on an old blanket.\u00a0\u00a0 E- and I loaded and moved hay a few times; we worked cattle in the chutes with them a few times;\u00a0 I bought my cows from their herd and traded off calves for pasture lease until the drought.\u00a0\u00a0 We have enough shared experiences and shared jokes to go on with.\u00a0 Good people.\u00a0 My day was like that all day though–problems and then solutions someone had to help me with.\u00a0\u00a0 We fed Rancherfriend J-, because Rancherfriend E- was home with a migraine and really wanted dark, silence, and time.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I had picked up barbecued ribs on the way home from the rehearsal, so we had those, and boiled red potatoes with butter & salt & pepper, and a pumpkin spice cake I’d also picked up at the grocery store.<\/p>\n
Lucky to have such a good friend!\u00a0\u00a0 Now I have to get things ready for an early start tomorrow–and clear the bed of the stuff that was on my desk and had to be moved to get the old monitor out and the new monitor in.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pens, pencils, hair elastics (why???),\u00a0 thumb drives, ink cartridges,\u00a0 sticky notes and 3×5 cards with vital important information on them by the dozens,\u00a0 envelopes covered with more vital notes (every piece of paper requires examination, just in case.)\u00a0 Etc.\u00a0 Lots and lots of Etc.\u00a0\u00a0 Tomorrow at church we’re singing a Bach setting of a Psalm and William Byrd’s “Ave Verum Corpus” at both services.\u00a0\u00a0 Somewhat challenging music.\u00a0 Today’s rehearsal was for the Requiem Mass on All Saints Day, a mix of sections from different composers’ Requiems.\u00a0 My favorite is still Mozart, and we are doing a couple of my favorite bits from it.<\/p>\n
I guess this note wasn’t that brief, but it explains why nothing for Paksworld showed up today.<\/p>\n
