{"id":1857,"date":"2013-05-30T06:41:50","date_gmt":"2013-05-30T12:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paksworld.com\/blog\/?p=1857"},"modified":"2013-05-30T06:41:50","modified_gmt":"2013-05-30T12:41:50","slug":"how-to-get-in-trouble","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paksworld.com\/blog\/?p=1857","title":{"rendered":"How to Get in Trouble"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As\u00a0 King Mikeli&#8217;s younger brother has demonstrated in previous books, he&#8217;s an impetuous, energetic youngster with a gift for ending up in difficulties.\u00a0\u00a0 He&#8217;s also warmhearted, well-intentioned (in his own way) and brave.\u00a0 He was supposed to be one of those minor characters who decorates the margin of the story,\u00a0 illuminates the context of major characters.\u00a0 However, Camwyn\u00a0 did not stay marginal.\u00a0\u00a0 Quite the contrary.\u00a0 Rather like Arvid, in that respect, he showed up at the oddest times, doing things that put him center stage.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not that Camwyn <em>wants<\/em> to cause trouble for himself or others.\u00a0 But a lightning rod person will always snag any electricity around, and he does.\u00a0 Hence&#8230;a snippet.\u00a0\u00a0 By keeping it annoyingly short, I can just barely avoid spoilers, but may it bridge the gap over A-Kon, when I won&#8217;t be around to post anything.<!--more-->Where:\u00a0 on a journey<\/p>\n<p>Who:\u00a0 King Mikeli and his younger brother Camwyn<\/p>\n<p>When:\u00a0 Middle of the night<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Come,&#8221;\u00a0 Mikeli said.\u00a0 &#8220;Now.&#8221;\u00a0 He stood there, outlined from behind by that distant candle, while Camwyn struggled out of the tangle his bedclothes usually made, trying to keep quiet so Aris wouldn&#8217;t wake.<\/p>\n<p>Excuses tumbled through his mind but he knew it was too late for excuses.\u00a0 He stubbed his toe on the leg of the camp bed and managed not to make a noise.\u00a0 Mikeli stood aside to let him out and dropped the curtain behind him.\u00a0\u00a0 Then he felt Mikeli&#8217;s hand&#8211;a man&#8217;s hand, larger than his own, harder-callused, stronger&#8211;on his arm, moving him to Mikeli&#8217;s side of the tent.<\/p>\n<p>As his eyes adjusted to the candlelight,\u00a0 he could see Mikeli&#8217;s camp bed, the camp chair with its leather seat and back, the table with folding legs, the footstool.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sit there,&#8221; Mikeli said, pushing him toward the stool.<\/p>\n<p>Camwyn folded himself onto it.\u00a0 The candle flame fluttered as Mikeli dropped the curtain to the passage and then sat in the chair.\u00a0\u00a0 It should have been ludicrous, Camwyn thought, a king in his nightshirt, barelegged and barefoot&#8230;but there was nothing amusing about Mikeli&#8217;s expression.<\/p>\n<p>Mikeli leaned forward, putting his face a mere handspan from Camwyn&#8217;s.\u00a0 &#8220;And just <em>when<\/em>, Brother, were you planning to tell me about <em>that<\/em>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No use to pretend he didn&#8217;t know what &#8220;that&#8221; was.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And do not try to tell me this was the first time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8221;
